That this House welcomes the 17th UK Disability History Month which runs from 19 November to 19 December; calls on hon. Members, the media and the public to devote some time to developing their understanding of disability as a social oppression, which is created by the barriers of prejudice and attitude; is aware of inaccessible environments, communications and organisational practices within education, workplaces, transport and services, sport and leisure, that create problems for the 16 million disabled people in the United Kingdom with either long term physical or mental impairments; and calls on the Government to put in place measures to combat these barriers.
