Tackling stigma

Early day motion 905, tabled 12 October 2026 by Grahame Morris (Labour). Signed by 14 members.

That this House commends Drugs: It’s Complicated, the series of short films produced by Dr Adam Holland at the University of Bristol and funded by the Medical Research Council; welcomes this exemplary intervention as an effective contribution to understanding drug use and users, challenging prevalent negative stereotypes; recognises that this series takes a balanced view, lending clarity to what are indeed complex issues; thanks all those assisting in the production and dissemination of these films; acknowledges that everyone has a part to play in tackling stigma; and calls upon the Government to adopt a positive approach by supporting this and similar initiatives, the efforts of the Anti-Stigma Network and all those challenging stigma, thereby helping to remove barriers to treatment and reduce the record level of drug deaths across the UK.

Signatures by party: Labour 7, Green 5, DUP 1, Labour/Co-operative 1.
