Partick Methodist Church restoration and transformation into a community arts hub

Early day motion 523, tabled 6 July 2026 by Patricia Ferguson (Labour). Signed by 4 members.

That this House welcomes the proposed £1.65 million restoration of the former Partick Methodist Church in Glasgow West constituency, securing the future of a significant historic building through its transformation into a vibrant arts, cultural and community hub; recognises the importance of conserving Scotland's architectural heritage through sustainable reuse rather than demolition; notes that the proposals aim to create a flexible venue for arts events, exhibitions, performances, workshops, community activities and cultural gatherings while retaining the building's historic character; further recognises the contribution that creative and cultural spaces make to local economies, community cohesion and wellbeing; further welcomes the commitment to create employment opportunities and support the continuing regeneration of Partick and Glasgow's West End; and commends all those involved in bringing forward plans to safeguard the building for future generations.
