That this House recognises the role the UK ceramics industry plays in producing essential materials such as bricks and glass; celebrates the industry’s vital contribution to the UK’s defence and housebuilding capabilities and the enduring cultural significance and heritage of the UK’s table and giftware sectors; acknowledges the significant challenges currently facing the ceramics industry, noting in particular the recent announcement that Denby Pottery is seeking to appoint administrators; welcomes the Prime Minister’s commitment to review the British Industry Supercharger scheme in light of the ongoing challenges facing energy intensive industries; calls on the Government to include the ceramics industry within the Supercharger scheme; and urges Ministers to complete the review as swiftly as possible in order to provide the industry with much needed support.
