Nationality on electoral registration forms

Early day motion 470, tabled 22 September 2021 by Liz Saville-Roberts (Plaid Cymru). Signed by 10 members.

That this House notes that it is not possible to identify as Welsh as a separate nationality on the electoral registration form or on the annual Household Enquiry Form; further notes that census data shows that 58 percent of the population in Wales identify as Welsh and not British; warns that this risks communities across Wales and the rest of the UK feeling disenfranchised and underrepresented; recognises the importance of ensuring that such forms reflect all the nationalities that make up the UK; and calls for an inquiry into the matter of nationality on electoral registration forms.
