150TH ANNIVERSARY CHARLES RENNIE MACKINTOSH

Early day motion 1989, tabled 21 January 2019 by Alison Thewliss (Scottish National Party). Signed by 21 members.

That this House celebrates the incredible legacy and creative genius of Charles Rennie Mackintosh; reflects on the year-long programme of events that took place in 2018 to mark the 150th anniversary of the birth of Charles Rennie Mackintosh; notes that highlights included the re-opening of the Willow Tearooms on Sauchiehall Street, Miss Cranston's original tearooms and a major exhibition at the Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum; further notes that celebrations were widespread, with the Hunterian at the University of Glasgow, Glasgow School of Art, the V&A in Dundee, and House for an Art Lover all participating; and hopes that Mackintosh continues to be influential for generations to come.
