MARTIN GRIFFITH'S APPOINTMENT AS UN SPECIAL ENVOY TO YEMEN

Early day motion 985, tabled 27 February 2018 by Keith Vaz (Labour). Signed by 14 members.

That this House welcomes the appointment of Martin Griffths to the position of UN Special Envoy to Yemen; recognises the vast experience that Martin has acquired over years of service developing political dialogue between governments and insurgents in a range of countries across Asia, Africa and Europe; notes that the current UN Resolution 2216 no longer accurately reflects the situation on the ground in Yemen and will be an impediment to peace talks; and calls on the Government to introduce a new UN Security Council Resolution at the UN Security Council.
