VOTES AT 16

Early day motion 882, tabled 31 January 2018 by Layla Moran (Liberal Democrat). Signed by 33 members.

That this House welcomes proposals by the Welsh Government to lower the voting age to 16 in order to allow 16 and 17-year olds to vote in council elections in Wales; believes that this will increase political engagement and participation among young people as has already been demonstrated in Scotland; and calls on the Government to allow all 16 and 17-year olds across the UK to vote in all local, regional and national elections and referendums.

Signatures by party: Scottish National Party 14, Labour 8, Liberal Democrat 7, Conservative 1, Green 1, Labour/Co-operative 1, Plaid Cymru 1.
