NON-DISCLOSURE AGREEMENTS AND CRIMINAL OFFENCES

Early day motion 721, tabled 20 December 2017 by Norman Lamb (Liberal Democrat). Signed by 7 members.

That this House commends the bravery of Zelda Perkins, who has describe during an interview with BBC Newsnight how she was prevented from exposing an attempted rape of a colleague by her former employer, Harvey Weinstein, after signing a non-disclosure agreement on the advice of her lawyers; recognises that victims must be able to speak out about criminal offences; and calls for the Criminal Justice Act 1967 to be amended to make it a specific offence for the perpetrator of a crime, or those acting on his or her behalf, to offer money in return for non-disclosure, in order to prevent the use of non-disclosure agreements to cover up crimes such as sexual assault.

Signatures by party: Liberal Democrat 4, DUP 1, Labour 1, Scottish National Party 1.
