DEMENTIA

Early day motion 1166, tabled 1 March 2016 by Jim Shannon (DUP). Signed by 11 members.

That this House expresses concern over the increase in those diagnosed with dementia; calls on the Government to adopt a six simple step strategy which includes maintaining a healthy diet, not smoking, consuming alcohol in moderation, trying new things, staying alert with mental stimulation, exercising regularly, getting quality sleep, managing stress and maintaining an active social life; and believes that these steps can help reduce developing dementia by 60 per cent.
