24th ANNIVERSARY OF THE KHOJALY MASSACRE

Early day motion 1149, tabled 25 February 2016 by Patrick Grady (Scottish National Party). Signed by 20 members.

That this House recognises that 26 February 2016 marks the twenty-fourth anniversary of the attack on the town of Khojaly in Azerbaijan by the invading Armenian forces; expresses sympathy to the families of the 613 men, women and children who were killed during this attack; notes that UN Security Council resolutions 822, 853, 874 and 884, which call on the Armenian forces to end the occupation of Azerbaijan, remain unfulfilled; is concerned about the recent escalation in tensions between Armenia and Azerbaijan; and calls on the Government to use the anniversary of this tragedy as an opportunity to renew international efforts to find a lasting peaceful resolution to this long-standing conflict.
