WOMEN'S AID AND HOUSING BENEFIT

Early day motion 1099, tabled 10 February 2016 by Drew Hendry (Scottish National Party). Signed by 40 members.

That this House is concerned about the impact of the Government's planned changes to housing benefit on vulnerable people, particularly women and children across the UK who are fleeing domestic violence; notes that the Government has said changes to funding arrangements for supported accommodation would be cost neutral and is alarmed that the future of refuges and supported accommodation across the UK will be at risk; rejects these plans; and calls for a full exemption from the Local Housing Allowance rate for supported accommodation and refuges before April 2016 in order to safeguard the future of these vital services.

Signatures by party: Scottish National Party 27, Labour 5, Social Democratic and Labour Party 3, Independent 2, DUP 1, Green 1, Plaid Cymru 1.
