IMPORTATION AND TRADE IN IVORY

Early day motion 1032, tabled 28 January 2016 by Paul Monaghan (Scottish National Party). Signed by 36 members.

That this House notes that the Government has chosen not to implement the Conservative and Unionist Party manifesto commitment to end the importation and trade in ivory; further notes that the importation and trade in ivory promotes and facilities the gratuitous and needless death of elephants in countries such as Tanzania and Zimbabwe in circumstances that are best described as horrific; and calls on the Government to act immediately to close this trade and end the sale of ivory.
