KNIGHTHOODS FOR REMAINING 1966 WORLD CUP SQUAD

Early day motion 983, tabled 20 January 2016 by Graham Stringer (Labour). Signed by 3 members.

That this House recognises the outstanding contribution to football made by the members of England's 1966 World Cup-winning team; notes the honours given to Sir Bobby Charlton and Sir Geoff Hurst; calls for the remaining members of that team to be honoured with knighthoods; believes this to be a fitting way to commemorate the 50th anniversary of England's greatest footballing achievement; and congratulates the Sunday Mirror on that newspaper's Knight the Lions campaign, calling for all the 1966 players to finally get the recognition they deserve.

Signatures by party: Conservative 1, DUP 1, Labour 1.
