SMOG IN MALAYSIA AND INDONESIA

Early day motion 593, tabled 26 October 2015 by Lord Mann (Labour). Signed by 9 members.

That this House notes with concern the unprecedented levels of smog affecting Malaysia and its neighbouring countries of Brunei, Indonesia, Thailand, Cambodia and the Philippines; further notes that the smog is now forcing schools to close and is having a detrimental impact on people's health; calls for the authorities in both Malaysia and Indonesia to take immediate action, with support from the UN, to clamp down on the illegal forest fires causing the smog; and urges the Government to work with its Malaysian and Indonesian counterparts to resolve this issue.
