NAMING OF THE NATIONAL LIVING WAGE

Early day motion 365, tabled 21 July 2015 by Chris Law (Scottish National Party). Signed by 70 members.

That this House condemns the Government's naming of its so-called National Living Wage, while welcoming this de facto increase of the minimum wage; notes that this living wage aims to be based on a percentage of median income, rather than need; considers this an invidious attempt to devalue the term living wage, as used by campaigners such as the Living Wage Foundation for over a century; and calls on the Government to change this damaging rhetoric.

Signatures by party: Scottish National Party 51, Labour 13, Plaid Cymru 3, Social Democratic and Labour Party 2, Labour/Co-operative 1.
