NATIONAL LOTTERY

Early day motion 1066, tabled 12 February 2013 by Baroness Clark of Kilwinning (Labour). Signed by 11 members.

That this House notes the chance of winning the jackpot on the UK Lotto draw is one in 13,983,816; further notes that the odds of winning any prize on the National Lottery is one in 54; recognises that the price of a National Lottery ticket will rise to £2 in Autumn 2013; further recognises that research published in 2009 by the think tank Theos found that those who buy lottery tickets are disproportionately from low income backgrounds; further notes that the chances of winning are not displayed on lottery tickets and that the odds may not be widely known; and calls on the Government to require the odds of winning to be clearly displayed on lottery tickets.
