COUNIHAN-SANCHEZ FAMILY

Early day motion 671, tabled 31 October 2012 by John McDonnell (Labour). Signed by 19 members.

That this House expresses its concern at the treatment of the Counihan-Sanchez family, who temporarily moved to Ireland to care for their terminally-ill grandfather, vacated their council flat and, following their grandfather's death, returned to Brent, their borough of origin, to be faced with an initial refusal to house the family and now after being placed in temporary accommodation are threatened with eviction and homelessness; and calls on Brent Council to provide this family with secure, affordable accommodation, bearing in mind the failure of the Council to advise the family of its legal right to security of tenure.

Signatures by party: Labour 16, Alliance 1, DUP 1, Plaid Cymru 1.
