RECOGNITION OF OLYMPIC GAMES MAKERS

Early day motion 488, tabled 6 September 2012 by Pete Wishart (Scottish National Party). Signed by 28 members.

That this House commends the outstanding contribution made by volunteer Games Makers during the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games; pays tribute to the 70,000 volunteers, from all walks of life, who worked a total of eight million hours to ensure the Games ran seamlessly; believes that because of their immense contribution the Games Makers should be made Team of the Year in this year's BBC Sports Personality of the Year; and suggests that, if necessary, a new category be created to accommodate the Games Makers as an appropriate recognition of their fantastic contribution.
