BOYCOTT WORKFARE

Early day motion 370, tabled 10 July 2012 by John McDonnell (Labour). Signed by 16 members.

That this House expresses its support for the week of action launched by Boycott Workfare to expose therole of the Government and companies in forcing people to undertake unpaid or low paid work by threatening to disqualify them from benefits; congratulates all those companies, charities and organisations that have withdrawn from or refused to participate in the workfare schemes; and calls on the Government to concentrate on providing real jobs and paying a living wage rather than forcing people into no wage or low wage exploitation.
