PRESIDENT LUGO OF PARAGUAY

Early day motion 271, tabled 26 June 2012 by Jeremy Corbyn (Labour). Signed by 9 members.

That this House condemns the removal of President Lugo of Paraguay from office by the nation's senate; notes that the administration of Frederico Franco lacks any democratic legitimacy and that the move has been condemned by many Latin American governments; further notes that ever since his election President Lugo has faced huge opposition from wealthy and powerful forces that opposed his policies of social justice and land redistribution; and therefore calls for the restoration of democracy in Paraguay.

Signatures by party: Labour 7, Green 1, Social Democratic and Labour Party 1.
