WALSALL TENNIS CLUB CENTENARY TOURNAMENT

Early day motion 253, tabled 25 June 2012 by Valerie Vaz (Labour). Signed by 3 members.

That this House congratulates Walsall Tennis Club (WTC) on its Centenary Tournament; notes that the club is a wonderful resource for Walsall South, enabling people to play tennis and compete in tournaments for generations; further notes that the club has only seven years to run on its lease and needs its lease renewed so that it can carry out improvements to the building and enhance the facilities; acknowledges that the site has excellent parking facilities and is located in an accessible area; is concerned that the Lawn Tennis Association's (LTA)funding from Sport England was cut by 530,000 for the period 2009 to 2013; andfurthernotes that the loss of WTC premises and a LTA cut in spending could jeopardise future Wimbledon champions.

Signatures by party: Labour 2, DUP 1.
