GEORGE STEPHENSON HIGH SCHOOL

Early day motion 176, tabled 12 June 2012 by Mary Glindon (Labour). Signed by 6 members.

That this House warmly congratulates the staff and students of George Stephenson High School in North Tyneside on its recent Ofsted report which found the school to be outstanding in every category; notes that it is the first secondary school to achieve this judgement in the North East since Ofsted introduced a more stringent inspection regime in January 2012; believes that this striking achievement reflects major improvements which have bolstered its ethos, with very strong emphases on pastoral and academic guidance and learning; recognises that the school last year celebrated its best ever GCSE and A-Level results; further notes the Ofsted assessment that students benefit from the school's exceptionally productive climate for learning and excellent teaching; and wishes the school the best in building on this enviable reputation.
