STATIC CARAVANS (VALUE ADDED TAX)
Early day motion 3010, tabled 25 April 2012 by Baroness Ritchie of Downpatrick (Social Democratic and Labour Party). Signed by 10 members.
That this House notes with concern the Government's proposals to make static caravans subject to the standard rate of VAT; recognises that the caravan industry has already been severely hit by the recession, suffering more than 1,500 jobs losses in 2008, and that this measure will put further pressure on the industry; further notes the impact that this measure could have on caravan parks and their surrounding businesses; commends the vital role played by caravanning in the tourism industry notably in rural and coastal communities; and calls on the Government to reconsider this measure.
