OLYMPICS 2012

Early day motion 2266, tabled 18 October 2011 by Alison McGovern (Labour). Signed by 20 members.

That this House looks forward to the opening and closing ceremonies of the London 2012 Olympics as a unique opportunity to showcase the best of British talent; recognises that the UK has an unrivalled reputation for staging large scale live music events from Live Aid through to the recent Take That concerts at Wembley Stadium; and therefore looks forward to the inclusion of live music in the ceremonies, particularly given that live music, from Glastonbury to the Proms, is one of the top reasons that tourists give for visiting the UK.

Signatures by party: Labour 15, Liberal Democrat 2, Conservative 1, DUP 1, Scottish National Party 1.
