ERECTION OF RUGBY LEAGUE STATUE AT WEMBLEY STADIUM

Early day motion 2260, tabled 17 October 2011 by Greg Mulholland (Liberal Democrat). Signed by 17 members.

That this House welcomes the erection of a statue at Wembley Stadium celebrating the sport of Rugby League; believes this is a fitting tribute to a sport synonymous with the home of Rugby League and the Challenge Cup Final since 1929; notes that the campaign by the RFL, the All Party Parliamentary Rugby League Group and others has been successful; recalls some of the outstanding examples of sporting excellence displayed at the original and new stadium; and looks forward to seeing the statue once complete.
