FUTURE OF THE NHS BLOOD AND TRANSPLANT SERVICE

Early day motion 1995, tabled 23 June 2011 by Baroness Ritchie of Downpatrick (Social Democratic and Labour Party). Signed by 54 members.

That this House calls for a review of the proposals for the future of the NHS Blood and Transplant service to ensure that it remains publicly owned and kept within the NHS so that this service remains based on free donations of blood and organs where profits are not made; recognises that the core value of the present system is based on individuals and charities giving voluntarily; and believes this should not be jeopardised with competitive tendering and outsourcing to the private sector.
