NEWPORT PASSPORT OFFICE (No. 2)

Early day motion 1856, tabled 24 May 2011 by Paul Flynn (Labour). Signed by 18 members.

That this House regrets the decision by the Government to cut 120 of the jobs at the Newport Passport Office which will have a serious impact on the area; and welcomes the announcement that 150 jobs will remain at the office, but recognises that this was achieved only after a sustained campaign by politicians, the South Wales Argus and community groups, together with the Public and Commercial Services Union, which persuaded the Government to climb down on its original plans to close the office.

Signatures by party: Labour 11, Plaid Cymru 3, DUP 2, Liberal Democrat 2.
