PROPOSAL FOR ONLINE RATING OF PRIVATE LANDLORDS

Early day motion 1652, tabled 24 March 2011 by Greg Mulholland (Liberal Democrat). Signed by 16 members.

That this House welcomes the Consumer Focus Opening the Door report; acknowledges the need for an independent tenant feedback scheme on the performance of their landlords; believes that empowering tenants in this way would lead to a marked improvement in the standard of some landlords' behaviour; notes that only 15 per cent. of tenants surveyed were able to find all the information they would want to know about their landlords and over a quarter could find little or no information at all; and supports the idea of an online ratings website for private renters to provide feedback on the conduct of their landlords.

Signatures by party: Labour 8, Liberal Democrat 4, Conservative 1, DUP 1, Green 1, Plaid Cymru 1.
