BENEFITS FOR BLIND AND PARTIALLY SIGHTED PEOPLE

Early day motion 1529, tabled 3 March 2011 by David Crausby (Labour). Signed by 55 members.

That this House supports the historic change made to the Welfare Reform Act in 2009 that means blind people will receive the higher rate mobility component of the Disability Living Allowance and partially sighted people will be able to claim the lowest rate of the Disability Living Allowance's care component, making a real difference to the day-to-day lives of blind and partially sighted people; and calls on the coalition Government to honour their pledge to protect the poorest and most vulnerable in our society by retaining these changes in the forthcoming Welfare Reform Bill.

Signatures by party: Labour 45, DUP 4, Liberal Democrat 3, Social Democratic and Labour Party 2, Alliance 1.
