COASTGUARD STATION CLOSURE

Early day motion 1238, tabled 10 January 2011 by Baroness Ritchie of Downpatrick (Social Democratic and Labour Party). Signed by 30 members.

That this House notes the proposal to close the 24-hour coastguard station in Bangor, Northern Ireland; recognises that this decision would leave the entire coast of Northern Ireland in danger in that crews would have to be despatched from Aberdeen to provide assistance in emergency situations; and calls for full opposition to this proposal which would result in the nearest guaranteed assistance coming from the North Sea.

Signatures by party: Labour 16, DUP 5, Social Democratic and Labour Party 3, Liberal Democrat 2, Plaid Cymru 2, Alliance 1, Conservative 1.
