NATIONAL ENERGY ACTION CAMPAIGN

Early day motion 1190, tabled 13 December 2010 by Alan Meale (Labour). Signed by 27 members.

That this House is aware that today in the UK five and a half million households are deemed to be living in fuel poverty, a situation made considerably worse by rising fuel prices; is concerned that more needs to be done to arrest preventable excess winter deaths, which last year in England alone amounted to 34,200 mainly elderly people; congratulates the organisation National Energy Action on its work campaigning for ways of combating such needless loss; and calls on the Government to support its work to ensure vulnerable households are free from health risks posed by damp homes.

Signatures by party: Labour 18, DUP 5, Alliance 1, Conservative 1, Plaid Cymru 1, Social Democratic and Labour Party 1.
