That this House notes the tremendous achievements of Northern Ireland golfer Graham McDowell, who in the current year has won the US Open Championship as well as being the golfer to help win the Ryder Cup for Europe even though he was under the most extreme pressure possible in that on his shoulders rested the entire European team's efforts; further notes that these victories mark him out as an outstanding sportsman; and acknowledges that many other sportsmen and women will be considered as candidates for the BBC Sports Personality of the year but believes that Graham McDowell deserves the accolade given his performances on the world stage.
