NATIONAL TEACHERS' DAY CAMPAIGN

Early day motion 647, tabled 27 July 2010 by Baroness Burt of Solihull (Liberal Democrat). Signed by 17 members.

That this House celebrates the tremendous work that teachers do; recognises that without teachers the country's potential can never be realised; appreciates the dedication that teachers show in imparting knowledge, wisdom and values to children; regrets the lack of recognition that teachers often receive, suffering insolence and even abuse instead of the appreciation they deserve; and calls on the Government to introduce a national teachers' day to recognise the invaluable work they do in creating caring and capable citizens of the future.

Signatures by party: Labour 9, Liberal Democrat 6, Conservative 1, Plaid Cymru 1.
