HAITI EARTHQUAKE

Early day motion 497, tabled 14 July 2010 by Diane Abbott (Labour). Signed by 21 members.

That this House recognises that six months have passed since the earthquake in Haiti; acknowledges that much good work by the UN and various aid agencies has been carried out; but notes that the island is still in the midst of a humanitarian crisis and that more than 1,300 temporary camps remain, housing 1.5 million people; is concerned that conditions may worsen with the coming hurricane season; and calls on the new Coalition Government to continue the UK's commitment to provide aid to help that nation to regroup, reorganise and rebuild.

Signatures by party: Labour 13, Liberal Democrat 3, Alliance 1, Conservative 1, DUP 1, Plaid Cymru 1, Social Democratic and Labour Party 1.
