CAMELOT AND USE OF LOTTERY TERMINALS

Early day motion 385, tabled 1 July 2010 by Alan Meale (Labour). Signed by 16 members.

That this House is alarmed about the organisation Camelot's proposal to mix gambling opportunities with bill-payment services such as those for heating, electricity, water and mobile telephone top-ups via their lottery terminals; believes that such operations represent a real threat to vulnerable sections of society, including young people who may be exposed to gambling, and local post offices, which without such exclusive services would be less viable; and urges Government departments to examine fully the potential impact caused by allowing Camelot to expand into these services before any decision is made on this issue.

Signatures by party: Labour 9, Liberal Democrat 3, Plaid Cymru 2, DUP 1, Social Democratic and Labour Party 1.
