USE OF LOCAL POLICE TO REPLACE STRIKING PUBLIC AND COMMERCIAL SERVICES UNION SECURITY STAFF
Early day motion 1180, tabled 24 March 2010 by Baroness Hoey (Labour). Signed by 11 members.
That this House deplores the decision of the House authorities to draft in regular police to replace striking Public and Commercial Services Union security officers on 8,9 and 24 March 2010; notes that the police presence was far higher than on other days; regrets that hon. Members were not consulted about this overreaction; condemns the loss of resources from neighbouring boroughs such as Lambeth for this purpose; and calls on the House authorities to exercise better judgement and to avoid wasting money and manpower when there are constituents who need more police on their streets.
