SALE OF GREATER MANCHESTER WEEKLY NEWSPAPERS
Early day motion 897, tabled 23 February 2010 by Paul Rowen (Liberal Democrat). Signed by 15 members.
That this House regrets the sale of the Manchester Evening News and 22 regional titles in the North West to Trinity Mirror, thereby severing a 189-year link between Manchester and the Guardian and the Scott Trust; notes that staff and titles will be relocated to Chadderton, Oldham; and hopes that this will not lead to further job losses.
Signatures by party: Labour 7, Liberal Democrat 6, DUP 1, Independent 1.
