CONDUCT OF THE HON. MEMBER FOR WITNEY

Early day motion 196, tabled 24 November 2009 by Bob Spink (Independent). Signed by 3 members.

That this House notes the statement of the hon. Member for Witney, Leader of Her Majesty's Opposition, of 26 September 2007 giving a `cast iron guarantee' that should he become Prime Minister in a Conservative government, there would be a referendum on any treaty emerging from the Lisbon negotiations; further notes with regret that the hon. Member no longer intends to hold such a referendum should he have the opportunity to do so; further notes that such actions make people distrustful of politics; and therefore calls on the next government, whoever may form it, to let the people have their say on the European Union.

Signatures by party: Labour 2, Independent 1.
