CARING FOR CARERS CAMPAIGN

Early day motion 2201, tabled 2 November 2009 by Greg Mulholland (Liberal Democrat). Signed by 55 members.

That this House supports the Daily Mirror in its Caring for Carers campaign; recognises the hugely important role that Britain's six million carers play in providing care for the elderly or ill friends and relatives; notes that many carers are unable to find full-time work because of their responsibilities to those for whom they care; and regrets that, despite saving the NHS approximately £87 billion pounds a year, many carers struggle financially due to low incomes and often cannot afford basic costs of living.
