COMMUNICATION WITH HON. MEMBERS
Early day motion 1310, tabled 21 April 2009 by John Hemming (Liberal Democrat). Signed by 22 members.
That this House notes that Article 13 of the Bill of Rights defines one function of Parliament as being `for redress of all grievances'; recognises that the people of the United Kingdom have a right to communicate with hon. Members about grievances; regrets the attempts by at least one local authority and judge recently to prevent a father from talking to hon. Members about his case; and believes that actions to prevent the citizens of the United Kingdom from reporting their grievances to hon. Members undermine parliamentary democracy.
Signatures by party: Labour 9, Liberal Democrat 8, Conservative 2, Independent 2, Social Democratic and Labour Party 1.
