CAMCORDING IN CINEMAS
Early day motion 1036, tabled 10 March 2009 by John Barrett (Liberal Democrat). Signed by 77 members.
That this House notes that camcording in cinemas is the source of 90 per cent. of first release fake DVDs seized and illicit film files on the internet; further notes that camcording in cinemas is not a criminal offence, making films particularly vulnerable when they are premiered in the UK; is concerned that the UK is now the pre-eminent source of full illegal recordings of films in Europe; recognises that camcording is illegal in many other European countries including France, Italy and Spain; and calls on the Government to support the film industry and make the camcording of films a criminal offence.
