PRESIDENT OBAMA, OPENNESS IN POLITICS AND HON. MEMBERS' EXPENSES

Early day motion 539, tabled 21 January 2009 by Lord Mann (Labour). Signed by 20 members.

That this House welcomes President Obama's inaugural speech statement that those of us who manage the public's dollars will be held to account - to spend wisely, reform bad habits, and do our business in the light of day - because only then can we restore the vital trust between a people and their government; and endorses this principle in making our democracy open and transparent not least with respect to hon. Members and their expenses.

Signatures by party: Labour 10, Liberal Democrat 5, Conservative 2, Independent 1, Scottish National Party 1, Social Democratic and Labour Party 1.
