END TO CHILD SUFFERING IN GAZA

Early day motion 469, tabled 15 January 2009 by Eddie McGrady (Social Democratic and Labour Party). Signed by 40 members.

That this House calls on the Government to assist in bringing an immediate ceasefire between Israel and Hamas; recognises that the current escalation of violence is unprecedented in both the scope and the impact this is having on Gaza's children, who suffer physically and emotionally; is concerned that more than 1,000 Palestinian children and over 100 Israeli children have been killed in the conflict since 2000; and is further concerned that the ongoing attacks will only worsen the situation and occur at a time when the Gazan population is already severely afflicted.

Signatures by party: Labour 27, Liberal Democrat 8, Social Democratic and Labour Party 3, Conservative 1, Scottish National Party 1.
