CONDUCT OF LORD LAIDLAW

Early day motion 391, tabled 12 January 2009 by Gordon Prentice (Labour). Signed by 34 members.

That this House notes with concern that Lord Laidlaw donated over £100,000 to the Conservative Party in 2008 despite his residence in Monaco and his status as a tax exile; records its astonishment that the Official Opposition accepted the donations without demur; and believes it is inappropriate for political parties to accept donations from those who are not UK residents for tax purposes.

Signatures by party: Labour 27, Liberal Democrat 3, Independent 2, DUP 1, Plaid Cymru 1.
