STATE RETIREMENT PENSION

Early day motion 247, tabled 11 December 2008 by Kelvin Hopkins (Labour). Signed by 69 members.

That this House recognises the Government's commitment to restoring the link between increases in the basic state pension and average earnings in 2012, but believes that in order to ensure pensioners' incomes keep pace with the costs of living and levels of prosperity across the nation, any future indexation should be based on the change in the Retail Price Index or average earnings, whichever is the higher.
