HOMECOMING SCOTLAND

Early day motion 145, tabled 4 December 2008 by Pete Wishart (Scottish National Party). Signed by 15 members.

That this House welcomes the joint initiative by VisitScotland, Event Scotland and the Scottish Government to celebrate the 250th birthday of Scotland's national bard, Robert Burns, with a year-long programme of events as part of the Homecoming Scotland programme; recognises that this excellent initiative encourages all Scots, those with Scots ancestry and those who simply love Scotland to participate in celebrations in this landmark year; further recognises that Homecoming will recognise the huge contribution made by the Scottish diaspora to the fields of science and the arts throughout history and across the world; notes that events will be held in every community in Scotland; and wishes all the best to all those involved with this initiative.

Signatures by party: Scottish National Party 7, Labour 4, Liberal Democrat 2, Plaid Cymru 2.
