ARREST OF HON. MEMBER FOR ASHFORD

Early day motion 51, tabled 3 December 2008 by John Hemming (Liberal Democrat). Signed by 9 members.

That this House is saddened by the arrest of the hon. Member for Ashford for doing his job; believes that the 1688 Bill of Rights interpreted in accordance with Article 10 of the European Convention of Human Rights in the manner defined by the Human Rights Act 1998 indicates that such an arrest is a contravention of parliamentary privilege; and calls upon the House authorities to take the appropriate legal action in the courts in order to have the unlawful action by the police brought to an urgent end.

Signatures by party: Conservative 2, Independent 2, Labour 2, Liberal Democrat 2, Scottish National Party 1.
