EU WORKING TIME DIRECTIVE
Early day motion 28, tabled 3 December 2008 by Bob Spink (Independent). Signed by 18 members.
That this House is concerned that the European Parliament vote on 17 December on amendments to the EU's Working Time Directive could spell the end of the UK's opt-out from EU rules on maximum hours of work; believes that this is particularly concerning at this time of economic crisis and that such matters should be for British hon. Members to decide rather than unaccountable bodies in the EU; and therefore urges the Government to defend the UK's democratic right to decide such matters.
Signatures by party: Conservative 5, Labour 4, DUP 3, Independent 3, Liberal Democrat 3.
