FUTURE OF THE POST OFFICE NETWORK
Early day motion 2458, tabled 10 November 2008 by Lindsay Hoyle (Labour). Signed by 53 members.
That this House recognises the unique and valued national institution of Royal Mail at this time of financial crisis; urges the Government to create a people's bank based on its trusted post office network; and further urges the Government to stop the damaging and unpopular post office branch closure programme, strengthen the Post Office card account to make it a key part of a new nationally-owned bank and take the necessary and popular steps to stop further cutting back of Royal Mail capacity.
